Okay, I love the iPod shuffle for what it is - compact, almost indestructible, and easy. And I believe that iTunes is the best music player on Mac or PC, and makes it exceptionally easy to manage your music and synch with iPods. But THIS WAS A $59.00 ITEM from Apple. As of this writing, Nov. 18, 2009, you can get them at the Apple Store refurbished, with a full one year warranty, for $39.00. This clown is selling them for $199.99 which is, let me see, almost FOUR TIMES THE ORIGINAL APPLE PRICE. If you are stupid enough to pay that much then PLEASE don't complain that they cost too much. If you don't like the charging dock that comes with it there are several options available on Amazon, starting at about three bucks.



I admit that this is not the best ONLY iPod, but it is certainly an excellent OTHER iPod. Unless you only want an iPod to work out with, in which case this IS the best iPod, and much better than any of its competition.

For [...]you might as well just go buy a nano. Not to say that it isn't a great product. The shuffle is the exact opposite of all the bad reviews on my end. They all say that the shuffle is difficult to synk,konks out after a month or so,and that they're just a load of trouble. There's a chance that with any electronics you buy they could fail. Especially mp3s that aren't apples. In my experiences, all the non apple mp3 players i bought have turned out to be crap. Only the apples have survived. Ive had my shuffle for at least a year and I just got the new nano for my birthday this month. They both work great and I have been showing no sign of stopping ever since. So go ahead and flip the coin that is life. Buy the dalm ipod. P.S. COBY Freakin Sucks!!!!!!

Have checked out the new and yes it has some nice features but I still like to use my headphones as apposed to the iBuds. I get a much richer sound from the JVC buds I use and if they get broke(cause I'm really hard on headphones) I just go and bye another set. Don't like the fact that I have to use the new iBuds for the new Shuffle to control it. Just wish the old still came in a 4Gb model.

I bought my 60GB Video IPod over the internet, "refurbished." While I was satisfied with most of my IPod's attributes initially, it took awhile before I realized how poor the battery life was. Most frustrating was the fact that the battery was drained of all power after a few days even when it was off. If I actually played the thing, it also didn't match the promised 20 hours battery life, more like 3-4. What surprised me the most was how difficult the Ipod was to use compared with my previous MP3 player, a Creative Zen Jukebox. There is no way to browse through a playlist or other category, which I missed a lot. I think Apple has a good product, but one that it has brilliantly (and falsely) marketed as being so much better than its competitors.

i've been using this ipod for two and a half years now, and i just started having slight problems with the headphone jack now. as other people have said, it definitely doesn't fit 15,000 songs-- i have about 13,000 with nothing else on it-- but that's still an awful lot. i've definitely been really happy with this ipod & it's held up to a lot of wear & tear, so no complaints, really. it's heavier & thicker than the newer ones, but totally works just as well.

This is the worst mp3 player i thought this one would be better then the 30gig. But i was wrong it only lasted one month and apple would not fix it. I tried twice but nothing happend so i gave up. I got an ultra slim sony walkman from japan as a nice alternative and the battery life is excellent. It runs for 3 weeks straight on a battery that looks like a stick of gum. thats triple the ipod life so i say long live the cassette and good bye ipod.

A friend gave me one for my birthday last year (!) and as an avid/budding interaction designer, I enjoyed exploring the brave new iWorld.



But other than for playing around, I would trade it for a similarly-priced Apple iPod classic 120 GB Black (6th Generation) without hesitation.



I currently use a Blackberry Pearl 8100 Unlocked Phone -- International Version with No Warranty (Black with Silver) as my regular phone and other than its senility in old age, it's a great device. GMail, for example, works much better on the Pearl than the iPod Touch - I can navigate between messages and pages faster on the Pearl, the Blackberry GMail client pre-loads the messages so I'm not constantly waiting for them to download, and typing with real buttons is faster (even with the Pearl's funky multi-keyed button layout) than the Touch's virtual buttons.



GMail is just one application - more broadly, I'm frequently forced to click the home-button (which quits whatever application I'm running), go to Settings and reconnect to a wireless network, and then re-start whatever application I was trying to use in the first place. If there's a network available, why can't the iPod Touch automatically connect to it when the application makes a request? Otherwise, the (virtual) volume button on the Music application is squirrely and requires a fair amount of practice and patience - I'm baffled as to why the iPhone has a real/physical volume button and the iPod Touch does not. Another oddity with the volume slider is its side-to-side orientation, every other virtual and physical volume control in the world is oriented up-and-down.. "please turn the volume left a little"?



For all the usability bugs in this product, I am genuinely impressed by the speed, reliability and usability of the Safari web browser on such a tiny screen. My "flow state" moments with the iPod Touch have been using the web browser - it's amazing how well Apple worked this out - I wouldn't believe it without experiencing it myself.



I will get an iPhone when the next version comes out (because I'm building iPhone apps), but I'm nervous about switching based on my experience with the iPod Touch.

What is there to say about the iPod shuffle that hasn't already been said in the other 300+ reviews?



So here are the five things *I* like best about it:



It's small and lightweight and goes right into my shirt pocket.

It's inexpensive so if i lose or break it or if it is stolen no big deal.

I can use the controls without looking at it.

It holds just the right amount of music.

Sand doesn't mess it up at the beach.

The charge lasts a long time.



Okay, so that's six.



Anyway, I've had my shuffle for 2 1/2 years and I still love it.

I had bought these two ipod shuffles for my fiance and my mom. My mom always wanted one for around the house and outside gardening. She love it when she got it for her birthday. My fiance love it when she got it for christmas because she now can have her favorite music with her all the time. They both are not into electronics and like how simple it is to use. However, they both needed help getting their favorite songs on them.



Key points FYI:



Must download itunes media player to sync with the ipod shuffle (Free, website given)

Can rip songs from CD's

Can add previous music you already own in mp3 and WMA formats.

Will convert from any other formats that it reconizes

Can download songs from the itunes store as well ($0.99 per song)

Itunes gift cards are sold just about anywhere they sell ipods ($15+)

(No use of credit/debit cards online)



240 song capacity is a lot for changing out different songs.(Not enough, get the 2GB ipod shuffle)



4 hours to charge but 12 hours of continuous play (just like it is

supposed to)



There are protective coverings(the aluminum is the best) out there for this device at Radio Shack for people like my fiance who has the tendency to break things she owns. (Must remove the covering, however, when charging so the ipod shuffle can fit into the docking station)





Overall, great gift or buy for anyone who is not into electronics but loves their music, as long as someone can set it up for them if they dont know how. The best smallest player out there giving the advantage for anyone who can take it anywhere comfortably.

I bought this for my daughter's 10th birthday. she loves it! It is easy to use and perfect for her. It holds plenty of music and the color selection was great! The only downfall was the instructions. They were very vague. The earphones are the type that are placed in the ear so that was a bit of a discomfort for her at first, but she has gotten used to them.

I purchased my IPOD Shuffle in May and loved it for the first month. It worked fine with no problems - until my hard drive crashed in June. Since then, I have had nothing but nightmares with my IPOD. Every time I want to add a song, sync it or even charge it on the base, I have to "restore" the IPOD (as my computer will not recognize the IPOD without ITunes open - and ITunes will not recognize it to charge it without restoring). I've tried Apple's help information, but nothing seems to work and I was told it was not their problem since I did not deauthorize my old hard drive before it crashed (if only the hard drive had given me warning). I cannot disconnect the old drive as a user since it is no longer functioning. All I could do was restore the IPOD and create another authorized account, which only half worked. I've spent over four hours tonight trying to load about 50 songs and only ten have gone on. It's definitely not worth the hassle and there is little support if your computer crashes. I'm very disappointed in a product that is supposed to be so excellent. It's not worth the money when other systems out there will give you more for your money and are more flexible when your system has an issue.
